Reporting audit

Reports that lead to decisions

A reporting audit follows each report you produce to the people who read it and what they do next. You see which reports shape decisions, which are read and filed, and what is missing.

What it covers

Every regular report you produce, from board packs to campaign dashboards: what goes into it, who receives it and what happens as a result. We also look for decisions your team makes with no report to support them, and for reports that someone asked for long ago and nobody has asked about since.

How we work

We gather the reports, then ask the people who produce and read them what they use, what they skip and what they wish they had. The useful test is the board question. When someone asks how a campaign performed, does a report answer it, or does someone open a spreadsheet?

The findings go into your maturity assessment and lead into reporting work: dashboards and campaign reports built around the decisions you actually make.

What we need from you

  • Copies of your current reports and dashboards
  • Time with the people who produce them and the people who read them, including someone senior
  • A view of the decisions coming up that your reporting should support
