User testing report

What testing showed

Every problem people hit when they tried your site or product, with the clip that shows it and a fix to try. Your design team gets a prioritised list of changes to work through, starting with the ones that cost users most.

What's in it

  • The tasks we tested and who took part
  • Every issue found in testing, described plainly
  • Clips and quotes from the sessions, so you can see each issue for yourself
  • A ranking based on how often each issue happened and how much it got in the way
  • A recommended fix for each issue

How it's made

It is written from our user testing sessions, in which people work through real tasks on your site, product or prototype while we watch. We review every session, log each issue and rank the list. Each issue is described in terms of what the person was trying to do, so the cause is clear before anyone starts on a fix.

How you use it

The ranked list goes straight into your design work, starting at the top. A short clip of a real person struggling persuades a room faster than a slide of findings, so use the clips when you need agreement on a change.

Once changes are made, testing again shows whether each fix worked.
