Market research

Understanding the market you are in

Before you choose where to focus, it helps to know the ground you are standing on. We study how big your market is, which way it is moving and who you are up against, then set out what that means for the decisions in front of you.

What it covers

We look at the size of your market and the direction it is heading, the organisations you compete with and the forces likely to change things over the next few years.

Each finding comes with what it means for your organisation. The point is to inform the choices you have to make about where to focus.

How we work

We start from what you already know: your team's view of the market, any past research and the facts already held in your knowledge layer. Then we test that picture against the evidence and note where the two differ.

Some findings will challenge plans already in motion. We set them out plainly, with the evidence, so you can decide what to do. What we find goes back into your knowledge layer, so the next piece of work starts from the same picture.

What we need from you

  • A sponsor who can tell us which decisions the research needs to inform
  • Time with the senior people who know your market best, in an interview or a workshop
  • Any research or market reports you already hold, shared at the start
