Brand guidelines

Your brand, explained for the people who use it

One reference for your voice and your look, kept online with the files to go with it. Your team and the agencies you brief check it before they publish, so the work stays recognisably yours as more people make it.

What's in it

  • Your voice and tone principles, with before and after examples
  • Your key messages and naming rules
  • Logo, colour, typography and imagery, and how to combine them
  • What to avoid, shown as clearly as what to do
  • A downloadable toolkit of logo files, colour values and assets

How it's made

The guidelines come out of our verbal identity and visual identity work. As each decision is made, we write it down with an example from your own formats. We write for the people who will use them: your marketing team, colleagues across the organisation and the agencies you brief. A few of them review the draft before it is final.

How you use it

Send the link with every brief. A new agency gets your voice and look in one place, and anyone on your team can check a slide or a post before it goes out.

Guidelines only stay useful if someone owns them, so we agree who updates them as the brand grows. They are also the starting point when we design your website or product.
