Molbio is a world-renowned academic research hub, and its website has to serve scientists, clinicians, students and funding partners at once. The existing site was outdated. It hid the breadth of the department's research, and gave staff no easy way to show faculty achievements or educational opportunities.
We started with discovery sessions with principal investigators and the communications and administrative teams, then mapped stakeholders to decide which audiences came first. From there we re-architected the site around the routes people take: to faculty profiles, research themes, publications and news, for academic and lay readers alike. A new visual identity reflects the scientific standing of the department and the history of the hospital. Flexible CMS tools let staff highlight new discoveries, programmes and grant opportunities themselves. We built for accessibility and mobile within the compliance requirements of a leading academic institution, then migrated the content, tested it and trained faculty to use it.
The department and its faculty now have a stronger profile worldwide. Engagement from the research community, students and potential collaborators has grown, and staff publish and spotlight new research and honours faster than before.
