State of the World's Birds, told as an interactive story

BirdLife International

Challenge

State of the World's Birds brings together the latest science and data on the health of bird populations worldwide, and BirdLife publishes it every four years. The report is extensive. For the first time, BirdLife wanted a digital experience alongside it that would bring the findings to a broader audience through storytelling, interaction and data visualisation.

Solution

We shaped the story with BirdLife's science and communications teams, guiding readers through the state of migratory birds, the pressures they face and the action needed. Then we designed and built the experience. The assessment's datasets became interactive maps, visualisations and tools for exploring, so people can find patterns and connections across species, habitats, countries and global flyways.

Outcomes

The platform sits alongside the report and turns complex evidence into a story people can explore, understand and act on.
