Adobe Audition -3db Low Mixdown Volume Fix

If you’re running an earlier version of Adobe Audition (such as AA3) you may have come across an unexpected volume drop of -3db, when you export a .wav mixdown or separates.

Apparently this decrease in volume is supposed to be a ‘feature’…

It can be really irritating and there don’t appear to be any particularly good explanations of how to solve this issue on the net; so here goes…

The problem is to do with Audition’s panning settings…

Navigate to Edit > Preferences > Multitrack (tab) and change your ‘Stereo Panning Mode’ to ‘Left/Right cut logarithmic’.

Then select OK.

Now select ‘Mulitrack’ view.
Navigate to View > Advanced Session Properties (or just press CTRL + P).
Again, change the panning mode to ‘L/R Cut Logarithmic’.

Save the session and restart Audition.

Now try and export a mixdown. You should be good to go – with no drop in volume!

Hope that helps! ;-)

I was really irritated that Audition did this on the mixdowns. Problem solved though, thanks!
